Play MOV File on Android

One day, I'm trying to play .mov file in my Samsung Galaxy S2 using default movie player, the movie is playing but no sound is coming out. In order to play MOV file in Android, use this step:

  1. Install MoboPlayer (it's free) *do not confuse with Mobo Video Player Pro, the suggested player is MoboPlayer
  2. Open MOV file
  3. There will be a glitch after you open it. This is because MoboPlayer try to play the file using hardware decoding first (default) and it will failed then MoboPlayer will play it using software decoding
  4. Your MOV file will play normally

If you have android device with processor speed is lower than 800MHz, I highly suggest that you don't try to open MOV file, because in many cases your device will hang. Just try to open the file using your computer :)
Software decoding using more battery than hardware decoding, so be wise to open MOV file or your battery will drained faster than normal. This is because all the encoding process performed by CPU not by GPU (with embedded codec).

  1. It is well-known that Android platform cannot natively support .mov media format.

To play all kinds of MOV files on Android, you may refer to the following two methods:

Method 1: Download and install third-party player to play MOV on Android

Method 2: Convert MOV to Android more supported MP4 format with iDealshare VideoGo

  2. To play QuickTime videos on Android tablet, we had better convert
QuickTime MOV to Android more supported MP4 with a third party software
    like iDealshare VideoGo

As far as I know iDealshare VideoGo also helps to convert other video files like MKV, FLV, MPG, WMV, AVCHD, WebM, H.265, SWF etc to Android tablie, mobile phone.

Hope it helps more or less.
